Well, I haven’t posted for a few days due to my Kaplan classes starting. They are interesting and require a fair amount of blog type posting for both of my communication classes. I am taking two classes: Communicating in the 21st Century and Interpersonal Communications.

So far they are interesting and I am just getting use to how the formating of the classes work and what I am suppose to be doing.

The contracting job is going good and I made quite a bit of progress late Thursday and then again on Friday. This will be a new week though with more challenges to come, I am sure of that.

I have an interview tomorrow morning at CWS here in Rochester at 8:15am. I hope that goes well and that an opportunity will open there for me. Time will tell. I also have an interview for a very part time job at a local church doing media production and creation. Not sure

Yet another very funny video. I admit that you have to be a certain age for this to be really funny, but this is really funny. Let me know if you enjoy this.

This is a great video and very funny. Good to have some humor to keep balanced. Let me know what you think.

Well, sorry I haven’t posted in awhile. I have been busy with this contracting job that I have now and with school starting at Kaplan.

The contracting job is for a place called Scholarship America and has offices in Bloomington and St. Peter. It has been a roller coaster week. I have been working mostly during the day hours to get this php upgrade going and in place. At first I thought that maybe I had bitten off more than I could chew, but on Thursday I started to see progress and I am now well on my way to the finish line of the project. I suspect it will take a few more weeks, but I am confident that it will get there.

I started my first quarter of classes at Kaplan online. It has been a long time since I have been in school. I am finishing my bachelors in Communications. I am very excited and hopeful as I look to the future and success. Kaplan is an online degree program and very interesting. I have already received assignments and projects. My first online class seminars are saturday morning and Monday night.

Life has changed and man is it busy. I think there are enough hours, I just have to plan accordingly and stick to the plan. I will keep my fingers crossed.

If anyone is reading this, leave a comment so that I know that you stopped by. Thanks

man, I can’t get the facebook – CNN thing working

The kick off meeting went well. It was a very rainy morning, but the rest of the day went well. I got to meet the people at Scholarship America. A very nice group of people. Now I just have to figure out a way to make the php do what they want it to do. I got back from Bloomington around 2:15pm or so. Spent the rest of the afternoon getting computers set up and ready to go. I have to get the laptop up and running (Apache, MySQL and PHP) and then I am ready to start coding.

Here is a picture of the building that Scholarship America has its office in. Getting late now and I am almost asleep.

Well, tomorrow I head up to Bloomington to meet the staff of Scholarship America for the kick off meeting of their website upgrades. Kind of nervous as I don’t really know what to expect, but after tomorrow, I will know exactly what is going on.

I am meeting Ron, from Logisolve, the company that hired me for this job, at about 9:30 am to make sure that everything is in order. Then we head over to Scholarship America’s offices to meet with their staff to kick the project off.

I will post more tomorrow night after I get home and know more of what is expected. Should be good and I am glad to be ramping up for work again on a Sunday night. It’s been a long time since I had to be ready to go first thing in the morning.

Getting ready for the kick off meeting tomorrow in Bloomington, my first day as a contract programmer

A big thank you goes out to the folks at Mayo Optical Northeast. On Friday my wife called me in the afternoon and said that she had just been presented with flowers and gift card for Hy Vee in the amount of $200. In addition, there were 2 movie tickets and a $10 bill included as well. My wife’s co-workers knew about me loosing my job and all pitched in and got this for us so we could go grocery shopping and go see a movie. It’s been a rough 6 weeks so far, but this brightened our day.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! It was a much needed encouragement.

Beautiful day, went for a walk and now sittin on my porch.
